Our very own Sadie Anderson was recently featured in the latest edition of Omaha Magazine to share the biggest trends in kitchen design she noticed at the 2019 Kitchen & Bath Industry Show in Las Vegas earlier this year. While you can read the full article here, we thought we’d share a few examples highlighting the most popular kitchen trends she has seen this year.
An Abundance of Black & Gold
High contrast designs featuring black and gold accents is one of the biggest trends Sadie noticed at KBIS this year and it’s easy to see why. The addition of black and gold adds an element of dimension to the popular “all-white” kitchens, while also creating a bit of drama.
The Return of Lighter Woods
Lighter woods are also making a comeback in kitchen design, which is in stark contrast to the darker cabinets that were popular in the early 2000’s. From open shelving featuring oak to beechwood cabinetry, lighter woods are a great way to add warmth to a kitchen.
Open shelving is also a very popular trend in kitchen design, providing the option to display dishware, frequently used ingredients or a combination of both. Inspired by minimal Scandinavian design, open shelves are a great way to combat clutter and encourage you to only keep the items you actually use and need.
According to Sadie, kitchens featuring high-contrast colors were also a noticeable trend at KBIS this year. From boldly hued cabinets paired with neutral countertops or stunning gold hardware paired with dark cabinetry, bold design choices payoff in a big way.
Smart Kitchen Appliances
Lastly, another popular trend in kitchen design is the integration of technology and smart appliances. Everything from voice-controlled faucets that can measure specific amounts of water to coffee makers that are compatible with Alexa, there are a variety of ways to enhance your kitchen with technology.
